Food Safety Supervisor NSW online training course outline

Participants will learn about the NSW food safety laws, how to safely handle food at work and how to prevent food poisoning. In addition, the course emphasises the legislative requirements and importance of accuracy in the daily monitoring procedures required for a successful Food Safety System.

Section 1. Food Safety: the facts

– Find out why food safety matters and who is most ‘at risk’.


Section 2. Keeping Food Safe

– Learn to take control of food hazards.

Once you register, there are 4 accredited sections:

Section 3. Food Laws –

Find about the law in plain English so all food handlers and food business owners understand their everyday legal responsibilities when working with food.


Section 4. Clean & Healthy

– Learn about the health & hygiene for food businesses and food handlers.


Section 5. Food Handling Controls

– See how to implement food safety procedures as required by Standard 3.2.2.


Section 6. Food Safety Programs

– Discover how easy a food safety program can be to implement. We teach you how to walk the walk & talk the talk. Learn that a food safety program provides protection for you and for your customers.

Assessment online includes quizzes, case studies, review tasks, multiple choice questions, puzzles and a simple post-in assignment . Participants must also undertake a workplace evaluation to demonstrate practical skills observed in a real or simulated workplace environment. ID Requirements:

Nationally recognised training requires the RTO, Centre for Training to be record and report to the relevant government bodies details of the participants’ identification (Must be Government issued id: eg: Driver’s Licence, Passport or Birth Certificate all acceptable) the original ID must be sighted, copied and certified by a JP and the original JP certified document sent to Centre for Training ( please do not send your original form of ID)

Recognition of previous training The Authority may recognise people who have attained the required units of competency on or after 1 January 2007. To be eligible for an FSS certificate one of the criteria below must be met:  Note: After 31 August 2010 units attained from an RTO registered in NSW but not approved to conduct training under this program, will not be recognised for an FSS certificate

  • all of the required units were attained from any RTO in Australia in the period between 1 January 2007 and 31 August 2010
  • all of the required units were attained from any RTO in Australia as part of a vocational qualification such as Cert IV Commercial Cookery after 1 January 2007
  • all of the required units were attained from an interstate RTO (not registered in NSW), where the training was delivered in person only (face to face), at a location outside of NSW after 31 August 2010, or
  • some of the required units were attained at an RTO registered in NSW before 31 August 2010 and the other units were attained from an interstate RTO (not registered in NSW), where the training was delivered in person only (face to face), at a location outside of NSW after 31 August 2010.
